Shared Cruise to St.Naum Monastery

Riding ATV through whole national park Galicica is truly a spectacular experience that you will never forget. The beginning of the tour is gaining 300 m on asphalt road that leads to the village of Velestovo. As we leave the village the asphalt turns in rocky road uphill until we reach the Krstec peak 1600 m.a.s.l. Then the ride turns into a real dancing through the highlands of Asandjura. Once we reach the Asandjura hut we will enjoy a delicious picnic lunch together. After the break we pass under Tomoros peak and the forgotten ski lifts until we hit the asphalt again. On this point we will be blessed with spectacular views of Prespa Lake and moments later a bird's eye view of Lake Ohrid and Albania in the background. While moving down we leave the National park and continue riding by the lake to the starting point in Ohrid.

At the entrance of the National Park Galicica the excursion starts. The tour passes through the village of Velestovo and crosses a forest of low trunk plants and a rocky area. Furthermore, the route gets to a larger area covered with pastures and a natural mountain lake. 

Of course, along the way, there will be multiple stops to enjoy the stunning view of the glistering and brightening colors of the Lake and the city of Ohrid. Our first stop for the day will be the town of Korca, a small town, that is turning out to be one modern town in Albania, while the traces of communist isolation are still visible. We will be able to visit the Museum of Medival art, with some of the most beautiful preserved Medival objects from the surrounding. After the Korca sightseeing, we will continue our way to Greece in the town of Kastoria. Kastoria lies on the shores of the Orestiada lake, where you can see the most beautiful scenes of pelicans and cormorants swimming around. You can have lunch or a coffee break in some of the restaurants and cafes on the lake shores. We have a chance to visit the Cave of the Dragon on a guided tour. If the weather allows it, we can make the return trip through Galichica National Park.

The goal of this tour is to cycle around the lake of Ohrid, which is 94 km long! I encountered a dozen different idyllic (fishing) villages, ancient historical remains, and pure nature in 2 countries, North-Macedonia and Albania. On the road, many photo stops and breaks will be made, for example, in the National Park of Galicica, Lin, Pogradec, Radozda, Struga, and many more, where you will have the chance to make astonishing pictures.

Your adventure starts in the city of Ohrid at 09:00, where your e-bike and gear are waiting. Bike until you reach the Albanian border and arrive in the town of Pogradec, where you will take a break and enjoy your lunch. From Pogradec, cycle back to North Macedonia. After passing the border again, you will go via Struga to the starting point in Ohrid, where your transfer will bring you back to your pickup point.

Once we arrive at Bitola, on the right, you can see Mount Pelister and Pelister National Park, which is the smallest but oldest national park in Macedonia. It is famous for its ancient Molika pine trees and many other different types of flora and fauna and it conserves some rare glacial lakes, the Pelister Eyes. It is a famous winter ski resort with hotels and ski-lifts.
In Bitola we visit the church of St. Dimitri. Then we just have a quick glance at Yeni Mosque, built in 1559 which is now an art gallery, then the Yahdar-Kadi Mosque (built in 1562) and the Isak Mosque (built in 1508-09).
At the heart of the town is the Clock Tower. The River Dragor runs through the town. Sirok Sokak (a long pedestrian area) is renowned for the beautiful old houses that belong to the 19th-century architecture. Bitola is a town of consulates, also the town where the Manaki brothers, famous for their pioneering work with the camera, opened their Studio of Art Photography in 1905.

This is a medium to hard hiking tour to the highest peak on Galichica mountain. Magaro is 2245 m high. The view from the top of the hill over the two lakes is amazing.
